WHY IS PROVIDENCE PARK CLOSED?Providence Park is closed to adhere to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division's procedures when a site is placed in the Hazardous Sites Response Program. WHEN WILL PROVIDENCE PARK REOPEN TO THE PUBLIC?Providence Park is scheduled to reopen after the groundwater remediation is completed. The projected milestone is December 2012. WHO MANAGES PROVIDENCE PARK?Fulton County's Department of Public Works is currently responsible for the management of Providence Park. WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION PROJECT?The goal of the project is to ensure all chemical observations are assessed to be lower than the site specific RRSs (Risk Reduction Standards) established during the CSR (Compliance Status Report). Once this occurs, the active remediation will be shut down and a two year monitoring period will begin. WHAT DID FULTON COUNTY DO WITH THE EVACUATED SOIL FROM PROVIDENCE PARK?The approximately 8,331.5 tons of impacted soil that was removed from the site was transferred under manifest to the Waste Management subtitle D landfill in Ball Ground, Georgia. |

IS THE WATER IN PROVIDENCE LAKE AND PROVIDENCE PARK'S CREEKS AND WETLANDS SAFE?As of date, there have been no detectable concentrations of chemicals identified in the open water sampling was conducted at Providence Park or in the water and sediment samples that were collected from Providence Lake, the former quarry, nearby streams, and the lake outfall. |
